Former Lagos State Governor and APC
National Leader, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, has congratulated the party’s
candidate in the Edo State governorship election, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, on
his victory in the election, saying Edo people had made their choice.
A statement from Tinubu’s Media Office
quoted the politician as describing Obaseki as a tested technocrat who
is experienced enough to take over and continue the good work done by
the outgoing Governor of the state, Adams Oshiomhole.
The APC leader also praised Oshiomhole for his achievements in Edo, which helped in retaining Edo for the APC.
With the election of Obaseki, Tinubu
said Edo had taken after Lagos in the continuity model, which has worked
well for the people of Lagos State.
The Independent National Electoral Commission declared Obaseki, as the governor-elect.
Obaseki scored a total of 319,483 votes to defeat Osagie Ize-Iyamu of the Peoples Democratic Party, who polled 253,173 votes.
Obaseki won in 13 out of the 18 local government area of the State.
